Peer Review Process
Qalamos Heritage Studies operates a double-blind peer review system.
Submissions proceed through the following stages:
- Initial editorial screening (desk review) to confirm scope fit, completeness, compliance with the Author Guidelines, and adherence to the journal's editorial policies.
- Plagiarism screening. All submitted manuscripts are routinely screened using plagiarism detection software to assess originality and identify potential text overlap. Manuscripts found to contain plagiarism, duplicate publication, or unethical publication practices may be rejected before peer review in accordance with the journal's publication ethics policy.
- Assignment to a Section Editor (as appropriate) and selection of independent specialist referees.
- External peer review (normally by at least two independent expert reviewers).
- Editorial decision: accept; accept with minor revisions; invite major revisions and resubmission; or reject.
- Revision and re-evaluation, including additional rounds of peer review where necessary.
In cases of substantially divergent reviewer recommendations, an additional independent reviewer may be appointed. The Editor-in-Chief retains final responsibility for all publication decisions.
