Publication Ethics

Qalamos is committed to internationally recognised standards of publication ethics and integrity. The journal’s policies reflect established best practice for scholarly publishing, including guidance from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Authors, editors, and reviewers are expected to uphold the highest standards of honesty, transparency, and scholarly responsibility.

Authors’ responsibilities

Submit only original work that is not under consideration elsewhere.

Provide accurate citations and complete acknowledgements, including funding and contributions.

Obtain written permission for any third-party copyrighted material reproduced in the manuscript.

Disclose competing interests that could be perceived to influence the work.

Editorial responsibilities

Make decisions based solely on scholarly merit, relevance to scope, and methodological quality.

Maintain confidentiality throughout peer review and editorial deliberations.

Manage conflicts of interest and respond to ethical concerns, complaints, and appeals in a fair and timely manner.

Plagiarism and originality

All submissions are subject to editorial checks for originality and inappropriate text overlap prior to external review. Where necessary, similarity-detection tools may be used as part of the initial screening.

Generative AI: integrity and confidentiality

To protect confidentiality and the integrity of editorial assessment, editors and reviewers must not upload submitted manuscripts, reviewer reports, or related correspondence into generative AI systems. If authors use AI-assisted tools for language editing or formatting support, this must be transparently disclosed, and authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of the manuscript.
